I am a multi-media artist who works in film, video, installation, painting, drawing and digital imagery. My work serves as sketches of memoir and constructed narratives. I create from personal visual symbology selected from memories of my Osage/Cherokee childhood in northeast Oklahoma. I draw inspiration from the philosophical and aesthetic influence of my years studying in Japan. Working there and throughout the United States in the fields of photonics, information society and internationalization anchor my vision of interconnectedness and interdependence. Continually informed by complexity theory, I trust each piece I start will later take on a life of its own. Multiple layers of meaning inherently arise as I find, create and re-create a codex of both ancient and contemporary symbols and marks. The heart of my artwork deals with issues and ideas about identity and existence as filtered through individual experience and collective memory.
